Design : Ollier vs Planing66.
The maxi-multihull Orange II was ordered by Bruno Peyron for regaining the Jules-Verne Trophy, the Round the World record with a crew, without stop-over and assistance. Bruno Peyron was the first holder of the record with Commodore Explorer in 1993, and then again in 2002 with the first catamaran Orange.
Designed by Gilles Ollier Design Team and build by Multiplast, maxi-multihulls specialists, Orange II was baptized on December 22nd, 2003, after 100 000 work hours, 280 plans and 14 months of construction.

Planing66, already the author - among others - of the modeling of the Tornado, Orma and ACC2007, decided to undertake the huge task of conceiving the biggest boat ever imported into Virtual Skipper.
Due to the lack of official documentation, lengthy researches were necessary to acquire a deep knowledge of the boat before being able to model her in 3D Max.
After countless hours, a first version was made for Vsk4. Unfortunately, the limitations of Vsk4, mainly concerning the management of the heel, were impossible to overcome, and the project was abandoned.

The release of Vsk5 - 32nd America's Cup, with many new features, made the project revived. A new 3D model was designed, taking into consideration Vsk5 new possibilities, and also taking advantage of the availability of new documentation.
Among many new things, a "Super Gennaker" was added for light winds. Orange II is now the first multihull in Vsk with 4 headsails !
